Terry J. Morthland

GALVA – Terry J. Morthland, 77, of Galva, died Sunday, April 14, 2024.

He was born March 23, 1947 in Clinton, IA, the son of Blair and Marcella Morthland. He married Mary Alice Griswold on August 15, 1969 in Osage, IA. Survivors include his wife of Galva, his daughter, Tara Morthland of Galva, three grandsons; Coleton Kelly and Conner Kelly, both of LaMoille, IL and Cameron Kelly of Galva, his sisters, Sharon Leslie and DeMerle (Aaron) Cousins, both of Clinton, IA and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clarence Morthland of Sterling, IL, and Darwin Morthland of LeClaire, IA.

Terry graduated from Clinton High School and Upper Iowa University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He retired as a Vice President from R.K. Dixon in Davenport, IA.

He enjoyed fishing and boating at Oak Run, taking many fishing trips with friends and especially spending winters in Florida. He liked cooking, grilling, visiting with friends at the gas station, spending time on his computer, taking rides around Galva and Bishop Hill, reading and watching football and basketball games. He loved his dog Sam and cat Daisy who were his faithful companions.

Terry’s deepest love was for his family. His wife, daughter and grandsons meant the world to him. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses who helped care for Terry.

Private graveside services will be held at Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Galva Public Library or to the Galva Senior Citizens Center. Rux Funeral Home in Galva is in charge of arrangements.
