Victoria “Vikki” (Leggett) Wallace passed away on December 19, 2023, at the Lacon Rehab and Nursing Home in Lacon, Illinois.
Vikki was born in April of 1961 to Fred and Shirley Leggett. She attended the American School in Japan (ASIJ) and graduated high school from Ecolint Internationale de Geneve with an international baccalaureate. Vikki was a lifelong learner attending multiple colleges including Northern Illinois University and Illinois Community College (ICC) and secretarial school in Hong Kong.
Vikki was a world traveler in her formative years, having been afforded the opportunity to travel throughout Europe and Asia as a result of her father working for Caterpillar. Paris was her favorite destination with the art museums and fantastic food.
Vikki loved to craft and was featured in a national publication for her creations. She was particularly proud of the stuffed animals she made to celebrate the birth of her nephews. Vikki also loved to garden and was proud of the garden at her home in Peoria before moving.
Vikki moved into nursing homes as a result of a series of debilitating strokes. When she moved to the Lacon Rehab and Nursing Home, Vikki was the happiest she had been in years. She truly enjoyed the staff and the unusual pairing with her roommate, Mrs. Choi. In Lacon, Vikki found a home and additional “family” that she craved. Vikki’s family is eternally thankful for the staff and residents of the Lacon Rehab and Nursing Home for making her final months of life so enjoyable and happy.
Vikki was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Shirley Leggett, and both her paternal (Fred and Alice Leggett, and Faye Leggett) and maternal (Gilman V. and Shirley Brodsho) grandparents, and her beloved dog Sarah. She is survived by her sister Sonja Everitt (Betty Yarbrough) and nephews Gilman and Reece Everitt, and Ryan Yarbrough, and her uncle Bradley Leggett.
