WILLIAMSFIELD - Virgil O. “Junior” Dudley, 90, of Williamsfield, passed away peacefully at 10:52 a.m. Thursday, July 3 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 12 at Rux Funeral Home in Williamsfield. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. The burial will be in Williamsfield Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the activities department at the Knox County Nursing Home.
He was born on August 10, 1934 in Williamsfield, the son of Virgil and Orpha (Johnson) Dudley Sr. He married Anna Mae Cheesman on March 21, 1953. She survives and is also a resident at Knox County Nursing Home, a daughter, Jennifer (John) Bantz of Williamsfield, a grandson, Jarrod and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and several half-brothers.
He worked at Burlington Freight Knox Box and Outboard Marine for 28 years. He and his wife ran Weavers Hardware, the Squirrel Cage and the Billtown Rent-A-Space. After the Squirrel Cage sold, he continued to work there for a good many years. He was also a die-hard Cub fan.
