KEWANEE – Wayne A. Bryan, 71, of Kewanee, died at 11:58 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2024 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg.
He was born June 22, 1952 in Kewanee, the son of James and Elaine (Anthony) Bryan. He married Bonnie Aby on December 11, 1971 in Kewanee and she preceded him in death on March 25, 2015. He is survived by several cousins and his special friends: Mary Bergren, Christine Gustafson, Mary “Sis” Kretzer, Andrea Quinn, Chelsea Blake and Shelby Salisbury. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Tammy Bryan.
Wayne attended Wethersfield Schools and served his country in the U.S. Army. He had worked as a welder for BOMAG in Kewanee. He was of the Catholic faith and thoroughly enjoyed running, especially with his wife and daughter. They spent many weekends together taking part in 5K and 10K races and half marathons, where Bonnie would run beside Wayne as he pushed Tammy in her specially adapted wheelchair. The running community became a large part of their lives, and they came to regard their running friends as family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 25 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck officiating. There will be no visitation. Private burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in rural Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the Henry County Humane Society.
