KEWANEE - William Thomas Bond of Kewanee, IL, departed this earthly life and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 4th, 2020, at Kindred Specialty Hospital in Peoria, IL.
Calling hours will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 13th at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 14th at the First Congregational Church in Kewanee. Pastor Lawrence D. Anderson Sr. will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the family.
William was born January 16th, 1958, in Brownsville TN, to Rev. Dan W. Bond and Alma T. White-Bond. He was a 1977 graduate of Wethersfield High School where he was affectionately known as “Big Daddy” on and off the defensive line. He attended Black Hawk College where he received an associate degree in Applied Science-Mechanical Power Technology. William worked for several local factories in Kewanee up until his retirement, then worked part-time for the Kewanee School District. William married the love of his life, Andrea L. Hodge, on August 22nd, 1987. William was a part of a musically-gifted family that formed the Bond Family Singers. The group traveled and performed together in various churches across the country.
William is survived by his children: Amanda Bond (Patrick Hines), Aubrey Bond, Thomas Bond, and Taurean Bond all of Kewanee; ten grandchildren: Davontay, Kaynen, A’Marey, Talayah, Schlaan Jr., Myles, A’Laeha, Jaymison, Jaxon, and Preston all of Kewanee; his stepmother, Margaretta Bond of Kewanee; five brothers, Darryl (Rosalind) Bond, Travis (LaNita) Bond, Eric Bond all of Davenport, IA, Brian (Charlotte) Bond of Glen Carbon IL and Willie Stevenson of Kewanee; sister in-law, Debbie Bond, of Kewanee; two sisters, Paula (Tyrone) Baker and Shannon (Kyle) Engstrom, both of Kewanee; mother in-law, Betty Hodge of Walker IA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. William was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Dan W. Bond and Alma T. White-Bond; his wife, Andrea Bond; two brothers, Danny and Kenneth Bond; his father in-law, Charles L. Hodge, and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
William was a long-time member of Second Baptist Church in Kewanee, where he served as a Deacon and a member of the church choir. He cherished his family and being in the company of those he loved. To know him was to love him. While he loved his children dearly, his grandchildren were his ultimate pride and joy. William enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles, working on cars, and any functions that brought together those he loved.
