GALVA – Thomas E. “Tom” Derick, 85, of Galva, died Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at his home.
Cremation will be accorded and private graveside services will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in rural Kewanee at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established. Rux Funeral Home in Galva is in charge of arrangements.
He was born August 6, 1935 in Kewanee, the son of William “Bill” and Christina (Dolieslager) Derick. Survivors include his six children; Connie Kersey of Kewanee, Denise McBride of Pekin, Steve (Julie) Derick of Atkinson, Karen Rohrig of Galesburg and Linda (Bobby) Bridgewater and Debbie (Gary) Boswell, both of Kewanee, a brother, Denny (Nancy) Derick of Bradford, a sister, Janice Beall of Kewanee, sixteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jim, sister, Rosalie Gray, his daughter, Joanne Petty, a child in infancy and grandson, Jerrod McBride.
Tom was a farmer and had worked as truck driver until his retirement. He had a love for horses and enjoyed attending sales and auctions and buying and selling items.
