Leona E Crossan

GALVA - Leona E. Crossan, 95, of Galva, died at 5:49 a.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Courtyard Estates in Galva.

Private graveside services and burial will be held at Galva Cemetery. Rev. Karen Martin will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to Abilities Plus, Grace United Methodist Church or to the family for designated memorials on her behalf. Rux Funeral Home in Galva is in charge of arrangements.

She was born August 31, 1921 in Galva, the daughter of George and Ann (Byer) Norbom. She married John F. Crossan on November 3, 1945 in Galva and he preceded her in death on October 21, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Harry, a grandson, Adam and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl. She is survived by a son, Chris of Geneseo, two daughters, Julie Leiter of Rock Island and Mary (Lanny) Johnson of Orion, eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Leona graduated from Galva High School in 1931. She had been a cook for the Galva School District. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church where she had been an active member and had served on various committees. She enjoyed cooking, baking and knitting. She had been a volunteer at Abilities Plus and at the Galva Tutoring Center. She enjoyed sending handwritten  notes to family and friends.
