KEWANEE- Dorothy M. Hepner, 89, of Kewanee, died at 6:46 a.m., Thursday, September 15, 2016 at her home.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 22 at Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church in Kewanee. Celebrant will be Fr. Jerry Rafalko. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 21 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church or to Rock River Valley Hospice.
She was born November 22, 1926 in Michigan City, IN, the daughter of Stanley and Anna (Owczarski) Kubinsky. She first married Leo Skovronski in 1951. She later married Raymond Hepner on May 29, 1982 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on May 17, 2004. Survivors include her three daughters, Christine (Ralf) Enemark, Debra (Rick) Sundberg and Patricia Skovronski (Roberta Davis), all of Kewanee, a brother, Marion (Ruth) Kubinsky of Kewanee and a sister, Mary Ann Pratt of Franklin Grove, IL, four grandchildren, Emily (Derek) Miller, Jason Enemark, Justin Sundberg and Leslie (Eric) Street and four great-great grandchildren, Campbell and Emersyn Miller and Cora and Brystle Street. Also surviving are a stepson, John (Annette) Hepner of Bowling Green, KY, two stepdaughters, Rebecca Hepner of Bloomington, IL, and Martha Jordan of State College, PA and three step grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edward Kubinksy.
Dorothy had worked at the A&P Store and later at Kmart. She was a member of Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church and their Adoration Society. She was also a member of the Flemish-American Club. She enjoyed music, dancing, reading and traveling especially to Alaska, Canada and South Africa and her biggest enjoyment was spending time with her family.
