KEWANEE - Gwendolyn “Gwen” Krause, 88, of Kewanee, passed away at 11:26 a.m., Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 19 at the First Presbyterian Church in Kewanee. Rev. Dr. Dale Dykstra will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 18 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens in rural Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church.

She was born May 26, 1928 in Neponset, the daughter of W.L. and Grace (Harvey) Moore. She married Anthony J. “Tony” Krause on August 13, 1950 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on February 21, 1997. Survivors include four daughters, Jane (Larry) Didway of Galesburg, Carol (Frank) Ryan of Toulon, Gracie (Michael) Kennedy and Amy (Mark) Davis, both of Naples, FL, her sister, Donna Lee Currier of Toulon, grandchildren, Evan (Angie) Didway, Blake (Hera) Didway, Katie (Austin) LaVoie, Jack (Laura) Lenihan, Paul Lenihan, David Lenihan, RaeAnne (Dan) Braasch, Sarah Wallace, Laura (Justin) Turner, Megan Davis (and Andrew Corke) Amanda Kelly (and Dave) and Anthony Davis and seven great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Alice Lynne Wallace.

Gwen graduated from Kewanee High School in 1946 and attended Monmouth College and Black Hawk East. She worked at Kroger’s and had also worked as a Private Duty Home Care Nurse and at Kewanee Hospital. She was a 76 year member of the First Presbyterian Church and their Priscilla Class and Monday Morning Ladies group. She enjoyed bridge club, attending her high school class reunions, walking on the beach in Naples, FL, baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, reading, music and attending concerts.  She especially loved her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
