Mary Elizabeth Hansen

GALVA - Mary Elizabeth Hansen, 99, of Galva, died at 12:45 a.m., Monday, November 16, 2015 at Courtyard Estates in Galva.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 19 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Rev. Ann Champion and Pastor Bob Curry will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens in rural Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to OSF Hospice in Galesburg or to the first United Methodist Church in Galva.

She was born November 26, 1915 in Neponset, the daughter of Charles and Mabel (Cardwell) Scott. She married Clarence C. “Heinie” Hansen on September 24, 1936 in Princeton and he preceded her in death on October 7, 1993. Survivors include her daughter, Dixie (Ronald) Moore of Peoria, five grandchildren, Brian, Mike, Lynn, Angie and Aaron, a great grandchild, Luke Egan and a nephew with whom she raised, James (Jeanne) Scott of Hot Springs Village, AR. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Charles, a brother and two sisters.

Elizabeth graduated from Neponset High School in 1933. She had worked as a telephone operator and in the lunchroom at Galva High School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galva and Lake Calhoun Country Club where she enjoyed golfing.
