Walter G. "Walt" Peterson

KEWANEE - Walter G. “Walt” Peterson, 70, of Kewanee, died at 2:30 a.m., Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Kewanee Care Home.

Cremation has been accorded and a memorial visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Friday, September 30 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee followed by a graveside service at 11:15 a.m. at Pleasant View Cemetery. Fr. Jerry Rafalko will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation or to the Walter Peterson Memorial Fund.

He was born August 27, 1946 in Kewanee, the son George and Effie (Richards) Peterson. Survivors include three sons, Cory (Arin) Peterson of Wyanet, Doug Peterson of Columbus, OH and Matthew Peterson of Davenport, IA, two daughters, Melissa Peterson of Kewanee and Amanda Peterson of Davenport, IA, six grandchildren, Kara, Derec, Isabella, Anna, Haley and Caitlyn and his niece, Teresa (Kirk) Ince of Kewanee. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Terry.

Walt graduated from Kewanee High School in 1966. He worked as a welder at Kewanee Boiler Mfg. until his retirement. He was of the Catholic faith and in his early years had been a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan who enjoyed repairing lawn mowers and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
