Brian S. Helton

GALVA – Brian S. Helton, 41, of Galva, died at 5:30 p.m., Friday, September 23, 2016 in the emergency room at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 29 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Pastor Jeff Goard will officiate. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Brian Helton Memorial Fund.

He was born July 25, 1975 in LaMirada, CA, the son of Ronald and Lanell Helton. He married Lisa R. Morgan on September 1, 1996 in Galva. She survives of Galva, as does his mother, Lanell Roe of Buda, step-mother, Ellen Helton of Neponset, three children, Reiha Morgan and her fiancé, Dylan Carroll of Silvis and Sage and Sy Helton, both of Galva, three brothers, Jeremy (Katie) Helton of Buda, Mark Roe II and his fiancé, Kairi of Champaign, IL and Logan Roe of Buda, a step-brother, Justin Collins and two grandchildren, Reece and Ryker Helton-Walker. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Mark Roe who was like a father to him, a sister, Tiffany, two step-brothers, Ben and Eric Collins, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Helen Morgan and his grandparents, Vernon Helton, and Charlie and Leota Helton.

Brian graduated from Neponset High School in 1993 and attended Spoon River College. He worked as a Hostler Helper for BNSF Railway and he also worked for Great Dane for 17 years. He was of the Baptist faith and had the “gift of gab” and enjoyed “holding down the couch” while watching TV. Brian was an avid Chicago Bears fan and also enjoyed collecting Harley-Davidson t-shirts, music, his truck, eating, especially sweets, going to his nieces sporting events and most of all he enjoyed his family and friends.
