GALVA - David William Irvine, 74, (aka Prairie Chicken, Pa Moo, Daddy, Grandpa, Grampy) of Galva, died at 1:42 PM Wednesday, June 22, 2016 in Litchfield IL, on vacation, while having the time of his life with his wife by his side and two farting and giggling girls in the back seat.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 27 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Pastor Tim Scott will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery.

He was born January 22, 1942 in Mt. Vernon, IN, the son of William and Margaret (Smith) Irvine. He married Marita “Rita” Christiansen on March 14, 1984 in Dallas, TX.  The first words he ever spoke to his wife were "bend over so I can see your butt."  He waited in that truck stop for hours until she would agree to go with him. It was love at first sight that day in the truck stop and they spent almost every day of their lives together thereafter. They did everything together as a team, including driving semi and being married raising children. He gave her every one of the laugh lines around her mouth and every one of the gray hairs on her head. She survives as well as his children, David Lee Irvine of Hamlet, IN, Mary Frances Irvine of Galva  and  Anita Shae (Randy) Porter of Davenport, IA,  He is also survived by his  other "special" children: Brian and Cyndi McCoy and Cheryl Egbert, all of Galva, his grandchildren: Andrea Christine Irvine, Danial James Porter, Robert Aaron Irvine Slavish, Jontavius Johnson, Megan Leanne Slavish (who stole his birthday), Jaymie Slavish, Randi Leigh Slavish, Dalyn Egbert, William and (Beth) Vantournout, Jacob Davis, Trai Terrell Anderson, William Steven Smith, Richard Krambeck, Katherine Anderson,  Tabitha Saylor, Robbie Anne Slavish, Gatlin Schreiber, Garret Schreiber, Belahna Jo Slavish, Zohee Edina Slavish, Alyssa Ann Shadden, Gage Michael Shadden, Nelson Carlson, and several other kids that called him Grandpa, Grampy or Old Man. David was also blessed enough to spoil  4 great grandchildren and make them laugh as often as he could. David has three brothers, Michael of Florida, Johnny of DeKalb and Bob of Loves Park, IL and a sister, Barbara of Monmouth.

Dave was a truck driver for 49 years for various trucking firms and had retired in 2009. He enjoyed John Deere tractors and backhoes. He was the founder and CEO of the Sarcastic Club and loved embarrassing people and/or making them laugh.  He loved his family more than anything in this world and they were his very reason for breathing.  He changed the world in more ways than anyone will ever know.  The world is definitely a better place because he lived, and we are better people because we lived with him.
