Octavia Guerrero

KEWANEE - Octavia Guerrero, 87, of Kewanee, died at 9:47 a.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Kewanee Care Home.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 14, at Visitation Church,  St. John Paul II Parish in Kewanee. Celebrant will be Fr. Fredi Torres. Visitation will be held from 3:00-9:00 p.m., Friday, January 13 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kewanee.

She was born May 10, 1929 in Durango, Mexico the daughter of Francisco Guerrero and Maria de Jesus Herrera. She married Gregorio Guerrero on February 16, 1946 in Durango. They moved to the United States in 1989 and he preceded her in death on February 15, 2014. Survivors include five sons and three daughters and their families; a son, Jose (Maria L.) Guerrero of Chicago, IL and their children, Adelina Favela, Indolfo Guerrero, Miguel Guerrero, Eduardo Guerrero, Elisa Villasenor and Joel Guerrero and their grandchildren, Omar Favela, Daisy Favela, Alex J. Guerrero, Anahi Guerreo, Adilene Guerrero, Ricardo Villasenor, Siana Villasenor and Fatima Guerrero; a son, Jesus (Hilda) Guerrero of Portage, IN and their daughters, Joanie J. Guerrero and Jessica Guerrero and their granddaughter, Vivian Martinez; a son, Gilberto (Felipa) Guerrero of Chicago, IL and their children, Isabel Guerrero, Gilbert Guerrero, Octavio Guerrero and  Denise Guerrero and their grandchildren, Gabriel Guerrero, Miguel Cornejo and  Maximiliano Cornejo; a son Jorge (Petra) Guerrero of Kewanee, IL and their children, Yesenia Guerrero and Jesus Guerrero; a son, Manuel (Margarita) Guerrero of Longview, TX and their children, Patricia Diaz, Jose Guerrero, Maria Grajeda, Guadalupe Guerrero and Gloria Guerrero and their grandchildren, Mayra Diaz and Katelyn Diaz; a daughter, Maria Irma (Armando) Herrera of Kewanee, IL and their children, Maria Enriquez, Reyna Cano, Griselda Granillo, Lilia Cano, Alfredo Herrera and Armando Herrera and their grandchildren, Diego Cano and Luis A. Enriquez; a daughter, Indalia (Eliodoro) Gallarzo of Sparks, NV and their children, Sonia Gallarzo, Alejandro Gallarzo, Carlos Gallarzo (passed away), Cecilia Gallarzo and Lisette Gallarzo and their grandchildren, Aylen Garcia, Juan C. Garcia, Mia Ortega and Alan Madrid and a daughter, Maria Elida and Pedro Navar of Kewanee, IL and their children, Yolanda Navar and Lucia Navar. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Octavia was a proud homemaker her entire life and farmer along side her husband until they moved to Kewanee.  Nothing gave her more joy than to raise her children and watch her grandchildren & great-grandchildren grow.

Nació el 10 de mayo de 1929 en Durango, México, hija de Francisco Guerrero y María de Jesús Herrera. Se casó con Gregorio Guerrero el 16 de febrero de 1946 en Durango. Se mudaron a los Estados Unidos en 1989 y él la precedió en la muerte el 15 de febrero de 2014. Octavia era una ama de casa orgullosa su vida entera y granjero junto a su marido hasta que se trasladaron a Kewanee. Nada le daba más alegría que criar a sus hijos y ver crecer a sus nietos y bisnietos.
